The weather was wet and Italians were thankful. It hadn't rained in months however the beauty was there rain or shine. Plus, we got a stunning rainbow.
Valdirose is a gorgeous B&B place to stay with marvelous hosts.
Italy makes you pause and admire all the garden bounty it has to offer.

Secret Garden Inspiration for Riverbend found in Niagara - Come tour it with me
Переглядів 1955 місяців тому
Come join me on a veggie garden tour in Niagara, Ontario, Canada. I met my girlfriend for lunch at Good Earth Niagara, and she said you have to look at their amazing gardens. Well, imagine my delight when I saw this hidden yet gorgeous veggie patch surrounded by orchards and vineyards. This needed to be shared with all of you for inspiration and beauty. The food was amazing at the restaurant as...
What we planted in Year One of The Veggie Patch
Переглядів 367Рік тому
We are currently planning for Year 4 in the veggie patch, and our plans are more elaborate. We now have 17 raised beds and several large in-ground beds, plus a food forest. But we didn’t get here in year one. We had to learn what worked in each zone and what we actually liked to harvest and eat. For experienced gardeners, you’ll see we planted too tight, too much and too little support. We lear...

Succulent and Hens and Chicks arrangements - how I make them
Are you living the Arizona desert? 🏜️ 🌵 My plants can’t stand wet feet and they’d be dead within a few days if I added that to my baskets here in SoCal.
I use old teeshirts and that works great too...
Great idea on saving the old liner
My mom used to do that, now I see the sense in it. Thanks to you and my mom 😍
Phong cảnh thiên nhiên thật đẹp cảm ơn bạn đã chia sẻ với mọi người ❤.
This is exactly what I needed because I’m dealing with all the issues you mentioned and I kept wondering how can I make these better so this was fantastic
Lots of comments here with tips. I tested the "line with plastic" and it works in addition to the tips I suggested. Happy gardening.
I used the sanitary pads last summer after watching your video and it worked very well at retaining water!
Great to hear!
Beautiful!
Thank you Michael 😊
Great tip ❤
I line the coco liner with a plastic shopping bag and punch holes in the bottom. That way the heat and wind doesn't dry out from the sides as well.
great video, will try the pee pads this year.
Thanks for the tips. They'll help, as I'm having problems with watering my coco lined basket. Water, and soil rushes out when I water the basket. Making a muddy, wet mess. Leaving my basket still dry, and thirsty. I'm going to give this a try!
Glad to help! Suggest you also line in plastic. Tried it last year with great success. Happy gardening.
Brilliant tips Jo-Ann…. Thanks so much!
You are so welcome!
An old cotton tee shirt or wash cloth in the bottom helps retain moisture too.
EXCELLENT VIDEO, SO HELPFUL AND THANK YOU SO MUCH! I ALSO SUBSCRIBED TO YOUR CHANNEL. xoxox
I do the same thing. My kids diapers that never got used. I don’t use them in my vegetable garden but on my flowers I do.
This is so helpful to see the steps. I'm going to send this link to my daughter too. This is going to be fun. I'll keep you posted. xoxo
Lisa, we learned so much about growing veggies. You'll love it as it becomes a family affair. ❤❤ Lovely to connect today.
Also, why I asked about using the drone. I think it would be so cool to add that element to show the garden.
Hi Jo-Ann, I just came across your video. First of all, thank you very much for sharing! Secondly, I would like to ask if it's possible to use cut-up pieces of an adult diaper as a possible alternative to the pads? (Whole diaper is way too big for 1 pot)
I just HATE when my sanitary napkin jumps around. HATE it, I tell you.
Thank you for sharing this with us. I have used diapers. But the pads have sticky on it, thank you so much.❤
Love these ideas!!!
WOOOW I am amazed about the pad tip!! thank you!
You're so welcome! It works!
Great tip! I have a question… do you think it would be okay to use organic cotton period pads (sanitary napkins)? Those are what I have around the house; I would like to know your thoughts on how long they need to last / how dry they need to be (I find they’re pretty good, not quite as absorbent as synthetic pads but I have sensitive skin so I like them better, plus biodegradable).
That is a fantastic idea. Please give it a try since you have them. I used what I had. If they work, let me know as that would be a much better solution. Happy gardening ❤
When I have got going I will make sure to report back!
I've never been to one of those. Where would I find your favourite?
I try to grow as much as I can from seed, but always get sucked into random starts at the store hehehe.
Me too. Even now 5 years into the veggie garden, I still buy starts. They shout out and say, "hey, you know you want to see me in your garden," and then they follow me home.
Especially if I go to the Asian garden centers. I find stuff I've never seen before. @@JoAnnBlondin
I can’t believe those plants in the raised beds look that good in October, thank you for sharing these with us.
Right...it was a gorgeous garden to discover 😍
Your pink bistro set always puts a smile on my face, so much so that I thrifted two chairs and painted them pink like yours!
Luci I'm so delighted they put a smile on your face and that you made your own permanent smile happen. Would love to see your pink table and chairs. Your comment has warmed my heart and brought a smile to my face too. Thanks so much for sharing this with me. Jo
So many great ideas in this video. Thanks for the inspiration.
The blooms of those plants are gorgeous. Looks like a great adventure.
So rare to see them. We felt grateful and blessed to have discovered them. The blooms are one of my all time favorite images. Thanks for watching Sue.
I love visiting greenhouses during winter. The humid air always feels so nice.
Yes, it is a favorite thing to do. Brings summer in an instant.
So many great photos. I love those succulent mannequins. Very cool.
Aren't they marvelous!?! Such a fun creative piece to start the greenhouse visit. Love the silver face too. Thanks Sue.
I'm amazed at all the different textures.
Hi Sue. I love it when gardens are filled with textures and interesting shapes. So many sharp things in this one so running was discouraged...ouch!
How beautiful all these images are Jo-Ann. And that rainbow. Wow!
Thank you Sue. It was a visual experience as well as all the amazing food. A dream finally fulfilled.
Holy smokes! The views are stunning. Thanks for sharing these photos. I'm adding this to my Travel wish list.
It is so beautiful there. Worth the visit and I'd go again.
This is only 45 mins from me, but I don’t have a passport 😩 So beautiful!
So pretty eh? Thankfully you don't need a passport to watch it and get inspired. Thanks for watching.
Holy smokes! What an amazing place. I can understand why this garden inspired you. What a special treat. Thanks for sharing the tour with us Jo-Ann. I love the table and you are right about how well they used the slope. I think you have inspired me to grow more nasturtiums in my own garden.
Thanks Sue. So beautiful and yes, we added a table and chairs in year one at Riverbend and in year 2 a picnic table. Eating in the garden is magical. Thanks for watching.
This is genius. I can't wait to give it a try this year!!
Beautiful garden and wonderful work
Beautiful 🎉
Love your idea. Going to use it. I just don’t want to wash away soil.
All our plants in these are dying hate them
just found your channel. I live near Toronto too. Your garden is breathtaking.
Thank you Marianna. Lovely to meet fellow gardeners in the area. Happy gardening
Also, we can buy large bags of coir, not in mat/liner form, just loose coir fibre. I presume they can be bought in America as well as coir mats?
Coir hanging basket liners/mats hard to find?? That's strange as we can buy them anywhere here in Aus, inc some supermarkets. So they must be hpard to find in America. One of our major hardware store chains, Bunnings have tons of them, they're cheap as too! The regular size is $4.90 & that incs the basket as well as the coir mat. I can buy them at other places but I buy them at Bunnings because they're cheap, they have different sizes & I love hardware stores, lol.
STAIL.
I had a gorgeous terrarium I tried live plants in but the bookshelf I had it on didn't get enough sunlight and it just molded. I was so sad, but I wanted to keep the piece. You helped inspire me to put a couple tall, battery powered candles and fake Succulents in it. I love it so much. Can't wait to add pinecone or season decorations for every holiday. Thank you!
That makes me so happy. Glad you're able to find a new use for your terrarium. Collecting the items is fun and such a memorable event that gets displayed lovingly in the terrarium.
why are they all wrinkly?
I have used baby diapers in a similar in all my pots, but I actually take out the moisture retention materials out of the diaper and mix it into my potting soil.
I use depends in the window boxes.
